Rangers and Blackburn Rovers will battle it out for Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent who is expected to leave the Premier League side on loan this summer.

The 21-year-old is highly-rated at Anfield but has had to go out to get regular football given the quality Liverpool have in the final third.

However, he endured a disappointing campaign last time out, struggling to make a positive impression in the Bundesliga with Freiburg, before moving to Bristol City where he wasn't a regular.

Nevertheless, the talent is there and according to Alan Nixon, the Glasgow giants are keen on Kent as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard looks to add to his squad ahead of his first season in management.

Yet, Rovers will hope the attraction of Championship football could be enough to convince the player to stay in England for his development.

The Reds are due to fly out to America as they step up their pre-season preparations and Nixon suggests that a decision will be made before they depart.

The Verdict

Despite his struggles last season, there's no doubt that Kent is a quality prospect and could be a key player in either the Championship or the SPL.

He is very quick, skilful, likes to run at defenders and would add a lot to either team.

Therefore, both will be desperate to finalise a deal for the player and it seems a decision should be made very soon on his future.
