There were high hopes for Rajiv van La Parra when he signed for Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season from Huddersfield Town.

It was hoped that the tricky winger would get regular game time under his belt for the promotion chasing side, but this surprisingly hasn't been the case.

He has been limited to just three substitute appearances in their league campaign, which is sure to be hugely frustrating for the 27-year-old.

Van La Parra has seemingly taken a slight dig at Middlesbrough in his latest post on his official Instagram account.

The majority of Boro supporters are likely to be surprised by van La Parra's lack of game time, with the winger already being a proven Championship winger.

The Dutchman was part of the Huddersfield side that won promotion to the Premier League earlier in his career, and Boro pulled off a real coup in landing his signature.

Middlesbrough are currently sat 5th in the Championship table, but have lost their last three games which has seen supporters grow concerned about their chances of finishing inside the top six.

Tony Pulis isn't the most popular of men on Teeside at this moment in time, and if he continues to freeze van La Parra out of the starting XI, then the pressure will only grow on the Boro boss as the season progresses.

The Verdict:

I think this is a sly dig at Middlesbrough.

Van La Parra is far too good of an option to be occupying a spot on the substitutes bench and he deserves to be treated far better than he currently is.

Boro need someone who can cause defenders problems, and I think it's a ludicrous decision not to have him in the starting XI on a regular basis.
