Rajiv van La Parra has sent a message to fans on social media after making his return to action for Huddersfield Town last night.

The 28-year-old made his first appearance for the Terriers since last season, when he came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

The forward replaced Josh Koroma after 73 minutes of the first-round tie at the John Smith's Stadium and made his first appearance for Huddersfield since the 1-1 draw at Burnley in the Premier League in October 2018.

Van La Parra made five appearances for Huddersfield in the Premier League last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, where he struggled to make an impact.

His future Huddersfield is currently uncertain, with a report from Turkey earlier this week linking him with a move to Besiktas.

After making his comeback for the Terriers, van La Parra sent a message to Huddersfield fans on his personal Instagram account, thanking them for their support and admitting that it felt good to return to action.

The Verdict

Van La Parra is a good player, but things haven't worked out for him at Huddersfield so far.

I'm sure it would have felt good for him to return to action for the Terriers last night and he played well off the bench, although he was unable to help his side turn things around against Lincoln.

He hasn't been included in the squad for either of Huddersfield's opening two games in the Championship and doesn't appear to be part of Jan Siewert's plans for this season, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave the club before the end of the European transfer window.

The forward has one year remaining on his contract at the John Smith's Stadium, so it would make sense for Huddersfield to sell him this summer, rather than allow him to become a free agent at the end of the season.
