Rafa Mir in, £9m-rated player out: Santo must field this Wolves XI against Swansea tomorrow

After a 5-0 demolition of Dean Smith’s Brentford side on Tuesday night, Wolves head into their FA Cup encounter against Premier League side Swansea City with a chance to give some of their youngsters an opportunity.

However, this won’t be an easy task as they face a Swans side that are under new management with the recent appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvahal.

After producing an inspired performance in his last two substitute appearances, Nuno knows that Ivan Cavaleiro will be vital in the outcome of this game, with his trickery and pace setting the Championship alight this season.

Indeed, knowing that promotion to the Championship is firmly under their control, this gives them an opportunity to show the Premier League what they can expect against one of their struggling sides.

Nevertheless, here’s a look at the starting XI Nuno Santo should consider to push them through to the next-round…

Will Norris was outstanding in their departure from the EFL Cup against Manchester City, as he kept them out for the full 120 minutes, with only penalties separating the two-sides.

Conor Coady will be tasked with barking the orders in an inexperienced Wolves defence, with Kortney Hause and Roderick Miranda likely to see some rare minutes in a competition that Nuno likes to give a chance to fringe players.

On-loan Villareal midfielder Alfred N’Diaye and the out-of-favor Jack Price will run the midfield errands, in a balanced pairing that will see the latter do most of the defensive work, while N’Diaye supports the attack.

The youthful exuberance of 18-year-old Ruben Vinagre will provide pace and trickery down the left-hand side, while Ryan Bennett will take up a versatile role at right-back in a position he excelled in against the likes of Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad.

Back into the starting line-up after a couple of game-changing performances off the bench for this Wolves side, Ivan Cavaleiro will be looking to have the same effect on proceedings this time out.

New signing Rafa Mir will take up his position on the right-hand side of attack after signing from Valencia earlier this week, what better opportunity to impress than showing his abilities up against a Premier League side. However, this is at the cost of £9m-rated Helder Costa, a player who’s gone under the radar this season with Wolves as he looks to rediscover his form.

Indeed, youngster Bright Enobakhare will lead the Wolves line after his impressive display against Manchester City. Although, after missing two crucial one-on-one opportunities in that match, he’ll be looking to put that right this time out.

In a game that will see Carlos Carvahal given the first chance to see whats some of the younger and more fringe players are made of, it will be an attacking encounter featuring two hungry sides.

If Nuno can get his side replicating the performance displayed against Manchester City in the EFL Cup then Wolves could pull off a victory here. But Swansea City are looking to carry cup momentum into the Premier League, so will be looking for nothing less than a win tomorrow afternoon.

Wolves fans, is this the starting XI you want to see?
