Following their relegation to the second tier, colossal expectations have been placed upon Rafa Benitez's men, as Newcastle United look to romp to promotion.

An elite squad, that consists of the likes of Matt Ritchie, Mohamed Diame, and Dwight Gayle, should be looking to display their Premier League expertise, and push United back up to the top flight.

However things haven't began as well as Magpies' fans would have liked, with an opening day 1-0 defeat to Fulham, followed up with a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town, in front of a St.James' Park packed to the rafters.

The Spaniard manager needs to fix this immediately, if he were to lead Newcastle to the ultimate prize of promotion, having already looked a shoe-in for it already.

Here, FootballLeagueWorld writer George Harbey, identifies THREE players that Newcastle must look to bring in, in order to regain the quality they naturally possess...

Fernando Forestieri

forestieriiii

Times at Hillsborough haven't been very tranquil at all, as far as Fernando Forestieri is concerned.

After allegedly refusing to play in Sheffield Wednesday's stalemate with Norwich City last weekend, to then address unhappy Owls' fans on Twitter, it will still take a huge amount of effort to keep the Italian forward at the Yorkshire club, despite manager Carlos Carvalhal declaring he will not be sold.

Netting 15 times in his debut season at Wednesday, the 26 year old would be a perfect acquitsion for Benitez's men, and would form an exquisite partnership with either Dwight Gayle, Alexander Mitrovic, or Ayose Pérez up front.

Anthony Knockaert

knockaerttt

Knockaert is no stranger to the St. James' Park faithful, after being heavily linked with the club throughout the entire summer.

The Brighton and Hove Albion talisman has netted 7 times in 17 games for the Seagulls, after signing from Standard Liege last term.

After excelling in his two year tenure at Leicester City, the Frenchman knows the league and knows how to get out of it, and after makeshift winger Vernon Anita has been made to play out on the flank, Knockaert would be an incredible coup for the Magpies.

Nabil Bentaleb

Nabil Bentaleb

After Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino declared the Algerian surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, Bentaleb would be an ideal candidate to shore up the midfield alongside Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey, a hole left void by Moussa Sissoko.

The 21 year old has made 46 appearances for the North London club, and has already made 19 caps for the Algeria national team.

Huddersfield and Fulham both overran Newcastle in the middle of the park, however if Benitez were to lure the Algerian to the Toon, he would be a shrewd addition.
