There is an option for Leeds United to make Illan Meslier’s loan move permanent, but it could well depend on his involvement between now and the end of the Championship season.  

Leeds have Kiko Casilla as their current first choice goalkeeper this season, with Meslier serving as back-up to the Spaniard, who is at risk of an imminent ban as he goes before the FA after he allegedly racially abused Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko.

So far we’ve seen Meslier just once in the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal, with the Frenchman impressing despite Leeds crashing out of the competition at the Emirates Stadium.

Now, reports from Ouest-France have suggested that Leeds have the option to sign Meslier permanently, but it comes with two conditions; that the club are promoted or that the goalkeeper makes 10 first-team appearances.

Meslier’s career with Lorient looks to be done despite his long-term contract there, with the bulk of Leeds’ fans seemingly desperate to see their club sign him permanently.
