French champions PSG have entered into advanced talks with West Brom wonderkid Louie Barry as they look to beat Barcelona to his signature, Football Insider have reported.

It was previously reported by The Daily Mail that the Spanish champions are keen to secure the signing of the teenager, who last season made his debut for West Brom's Under 18s side as a 15 year old, scoring four goals and providing four assists for the academy side.

PSG however are said to be keen to seal a deal for the teenager as quickly as possible, as he is thought to have twice travelled to Catalunya to hold talks with the Spanish side, with new PSG sporting director Leonardo reportedly making signing Barry a priority.

According to The Express and Star, Barry, who recently scored ten goals in five games during a youth tournament with England's Under 15s, was offered the equivalent of a three year contract with West Brom on his 16th birthday, tying him to the club on a one year scholarship before becoming a two year professional deal when he turns 17.

The verdict

What a deal this would be.

The opportunity to join a club such as Barcelona or PSG is one only a handful of people will ever get, so for Barry to given that chance at just 16-years-old is a huge reflection on his potential, and you couldn't blame him for taking it.

Given that both Barcelona and PSG should be able to easily match any deal The Baggies offer Barry financially, it is hard to see there being much hope for West Brom of keeping Barry for much longer.

It will be interesting to see just how Barry fares should he move to one of these sides, and it should be remembered that these sorts of deals do not always work out for the player, something that may be a consideration for the teenager.
