Ipswich Town enter the Championship’s third round of fixtures chasing their third consecutive win of the season, and a trip to Millwall is all that stands in the way of Mick McCarthy and yet another league win.

Many had written the Tractor Boys off, but solid recruitment in recent weeks has seen the former Ireland manager massively improve upon the squad from the previous year, and fans will fancy their chances this evening at new boys Millwall.

Neil Harris’ side have proven themselves no pushovers in their opening two fixtures, and a close defeat at Nottingham Forest was backed up with a solid home draw at home to Bolton Wanderers.

The Lions haven’t conducted the extensive recruitment that some of their rivals have this summer, and many have tipped the London side to drop straight back into League One.

Three points tonight would be a welcome boost following two solid performances that were not aptly rewarded, and Harris will earmark the home fixture as an early ‘must win’ for his side.

McCarthy boosted his attacking options with the recruitment of Rangers pair Joe Garner and Martin Waghorn, and along with David McGoldrick, the pair have enjoyed an excellent start to the season.

All three of McCarthy’s attackers have a goal to their name after the first two fixtures, with McGoldrick and Waghorn coming off the bench to turn the game on its head in Ipswich’s 2-1 win at Barnsley.

Freddie Sears may find his place at risk tonight, with McCarthy surely keen to introduce the pair into the starting line up following their exploits at Oakwell.

The Tractor Boys have looked strong so far, but the trip to Millwall will certainly be a test of their credentials, with the Lions desperate to snatch a first win of the season.

With that said, I think the Suffolk side will take the spoils.

Millwall 1 - 2 Ipswich.

Who do you think will take the points at The Den this evening?
