Queens Park Rangers have recalled midfielder Ryan Manning from his loan spell at Rotherham United, the R's have confirmed.
The 22-year-old was sent out on loan to the New York Stadium in August, after being frozen out at Loftus Road - falling behind the likes of Massimo Luongo, Jordan Cousins and Geoff Cameron.
The latter, however, has been ruled out with an ankle injury and looks likely to be out for a lengthy spell, whilst 26-year-old Luongo could be absent for as many as seven games, depending on how far Australia go in the Asia Cup.
The R's had the option of recalling Manning from his loan spell in Yorkshire, where he has been impressive for the Millers - the midfielder has scored four goals in twenty appearances for Paul Warne's men.
Manning signed for the R's from Irish side Galway United in 2015, and has since made over 40 appearances for the West London outfit.
Steve McClaren's men, after going unbeaten in their previous four league games, are now up to eighth in the Sky Bet Championship table, just four points off the play-off places.
The Verdict
This is a very smart call from McClaren.
Manning has been a solid figure for the Millers this season and would add some real defensive steel to the R's midfield in the absence of Cameron and Luongo.
It's a huge, bitter blow for Rotherham, but it had to be done from a QPR perspective.
