With Rangers midfielder Jordon Mutch completing his £4.5m move to Crystal Palace this week manager Harry Redknapp has the funds to bring some new faces in. “We let Jordon Mutch go so we could bring one or two new faces in, so we needed to bring some money in," said Redknapp to the Express, who is famous for his efforts on transfer deadline day.

Rangers officials have already met with their counterparts at Wolves and a formal inquiry has been made for the French born, Mali international. “We have made an inquiry about the player. Our Head of Football Operations Les Ferdinand has spoken to their people.

“We are looking for players up front. The chairman Tony Fernandes and Les are working away at that side, of things but it is not easy. If we can find deals we will do them, but we need to get them over the line.”

Sako has made 106 appearances in his time at Wolves, scoring 30 goals in all competions. He has featured for both Mali and France at youth level and has represented Mali on 11 occasions, bagging 4 goals.

Interest in Sako is high with West Brom also chasing the forward, although Wolves boss, Kenny Jackett, told BBC Sport that there has been no formal approach, "There's a lot of talk about him at the moment but the situation hasn't changed. There's been no contact,"

"We've had no bid. Whether there's one imminent I don't know."

Jackett and his Wolves side travel to face Bolton tomorrow who are on a high, fresh from securing a draw at Anfield last weekend and taking Liverpool to a FA Cup replay.
