Queens Park Rangers are keeping on tabs on Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland ahead of a potential move, according to the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old has been in sensational form for the Scottish Championship side since arriving from Ayr United in the summer, on the back of scoring 34 goals last season.

The striker has scored 24 goals in 24 games for Dundee United this season, adding to a total of 25 goals in 26 appearances for club and country this term.

A host of sides have been linked with the signature of Shankland, with Nottingham Forest believed to have been interested in signing the prolific forward this month.

But QPR are now reportedly interested in the striker, having been present to watch him score a hat-trick in the 4-1 win at Partick Thistle on Saturday afternoon.

R's director of football, Les Ferdinand, also watched Shankland in action in the Dundee derby back in December, so he is clearly a long-term target for the West London club.

The R's currently sit 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table after a heavy 3-1 defeat to local rivals Brentford at the weekend.

The Verdict

I think that Shankland could be a really useful signing for QPR and it would be a big coup to lure him away from Dundee United this month.

After proving himself to be a lethal finisher in the Scottish leagues, Shankland will surely be desperate to test himself in England and make a real name for himself.

QPR aren't really lacking an out-and-out goalscorer up top as Nahki Wells has been brilliant, but no-one would turn their noses up at the arrival of Shankland.
