Premier League strugglers Sunderland are interested in bringing in Sandro and Steven Caulker from Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers, according to the Daily Mail.
The Black Cats head coach Sam Allardyce is looking to strengthen his defensive options to aid the club’s efforts to remain in the Premier League, as they currently sit 19th in the division and four points adrift of safety.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR are believed to be open to offers for former Tottenham Hotspur defender Caulker, who is currently on loan at Southampton, and midfielder Sandro, who Rangers spent £10 million on from Spurs back in 2014 whilst Harry Redknapp was in charge.
26-year-old Sandro has featured eleven times for Rangers this season in the Championship, scoring no goals and receiving one yellow card.
A deal for the Brazilian is possible and would potentially cost Premier League Sunderland around £5 million, which Rangers could use to re-invest in players that would require lower, more sustainable wages.
Rangers have failed to win a single game under new boss Hasselbaink, and now sit a disappointing 16th place in the table following a 2-1 defeat to Hull City on New Year’s Day.
This leaves them a massive 11 points off of Ipswich Town, who currently occupy the final play-off position, which makes promotion unlikely.
