Queens Park Rangers are set to reunite with Nahki Wells for the 2019/20 campaign, with the Burnley striker looking likely to make a loan move back to Loftus Road.

According to a report from West London Sport, the R’s have made a late decision to attempt to bring Wells back to the capital, with a deal now edging closer ahead of 5pm’s transfer deadline.

Wells has been on the books with Burnley for two years now, but he’s only managed nine Premier League outings, all of which came off the bench.

That led to a loan move in West London last season, with Wells brought to QPR by former boss Steve McClaren.

The 29-year-old bagged nine goals in all competitions in the blue and white hoops, seven of which came in the Championship.

On his return to QPR, Wells will link up with a different coaching team following Mark Warburton’s appointment.

Warburton got the new season off to the perfect start last weekend with a 2-1 win against Stoke City. On the scoresheet for the R’s was another new striker, Jordan Hugill.

The Verdict

Wells was impressive last season for QPR, and whilst their need for him this year isn’t as great, he’s a sound addition to the squad for Warburton.

Hugill will take some of the goalscoring burden off his shoulders, which in turn, should allow the 29-year-old to flourish back at Loftus Road.

In a more forward-thinking unit, Wells should bag more goals than he did last year.
