Sunderland have cancelled a move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Leroy Fer after the player failed a medical examination, according to the Daily Star.
The Black Cats were all set to sign the Netherlands international on a season-loan loan, with a view to making the transfer permanent in a years time.
Reports have now emerged this afternoon however that Fer has in fact failed his medical and will now return to the Queens Park Rangers squad ahead of their game at Charlton on Saturday.
The move represents a huge blow for the player who has his heart set on staying in the Premier League following the R’s relegation last season.
It is hard to believe that another club will come knocking now that news of a failed medical has emerged.
Fer was a big hit for the R’s last season despite the club’s poor showing and no doubt the Rangers faithful will be delighted at the prospect of Fer staying at the club.
R’s fans… Are you surprised by this news? Can Fer still be a hit at the club? Are you eagerly anticipating the new campaign? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
