Queens Park Rangers eyeing move for midfielder

Published

on

Queens Park Rangers are giving a trial to 18-year-old winger Mikael Soisalo, according to West London Sport.

The youngster currently plays for FC Ives, who are in the Veikkausliiga, the Finnish top division.

QPR have offered him the chance to play in the Hoops’ Under 18s team ahead of the move to London.

A new winger is needed at Loftus Road following the departure of Matt Phillips to West Bromwich Albion earlier this month – however it’s likely Soisalo will go into the academy setup at QPR due to his young age.

Soisalo would be Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s fifth summer signing, following defenders Joel Lynch and Jake Bidwell, and midfielders Jordan Cousins and Ariel Borysiuk to West London.

Queens Park Rangers will be hoping for a better season this time around, in 2015/16 following their relegation from the top flight many had tipped them for a quick return – but they had a poor campaign, and only managed a top half finish by one point, finishing in 12th place.
