Sky Bet Championship outfit QPR are considering a January swoop for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, according to the Croydon Advertiser.

The 26-year-old has found first-team opportunities incredibly hard to attain under the stewardship of Alan Pardew at Palace, with the former Peterborough striker more often than not sitting on the bench.

There is widespread speculation that Charlie Austin may depart Loftus Road in January for the Premier League, so it seems that R's manager Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink has earmarked the 5ft 9 Palace frontman as a potential target to bring in.

Gayle has notched 12 goals in 55 appearances for the South London club, since joining the side in 2013 from Peterborough.

Hasselbaink's side currently sit in 15th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, having amassed30 points from 24 league games this season.

The Hoops have failed to win in their last five league games, and it would be no surprise to see the club delve into the January transfer window to help revitalise their season.
