According to HITC Sport, Queens Park Rangers have taken Niko Muir on trial at Loftus Road, with the Sky Bet Championship club willing to offer the striker a route into the Football League.

Muir has been in sensational form for Hendon this season, with the 24-year-old already bagging himself 30 goals in just 38 appearances across all competitions for the non-league side.

A host of Football League clubs have been taking a look at Muir, but QPR have handed the striker a trial, with a view to handing him a direct route into the Championship.

Ian Holloway’s side are hoping that their invitation to train with them will give them the edge in trying to sign Muir, who has been up there with the most prolific strikers outside the Football League in 2017/18.

Holloway is keen to add to his QPR squad this month, and the 24-year-old could be handed a deal before the close of the transfer window in two weeks.

QPR are currently sitting 14th in the Championship table, but have lacked a real goalscoring edge, with Matt Smith the club’s top goalscorer with just six goals to his name.

The Verdict

A fairly risk free move by QPR is taking Muir on trial, as Holloway will be able to run the rule over the striker, with a view to offering him a permanent deal.

Muir’s goalscoring record is phenomenal this season, and although the Championship is a giant step-up, goalscorers are hard to come by at any level.

QPR have struggled for goals and there is definitely room in Holloway’s squad for attacking reinforcements.
