Queens Park Rangers have now been searching for a new manager for over a month following Steve McLaren's dismissal in early April.

The West London outfit had won just once in the 15 games leading up to the former England manager's sacking, but John Eustace then took the reigns and has managed to keep the club afloat in the Championship.

A whole host of names have been linked with Rangers' hot-seat including Tim Sherwood and Darren Moore.

However, it now appears the R's have made their choice with Mark Warburton set to return to management at Loftus Road, according to Sky Sports.

Warburton has been out of management since being sacked by Nottingham Forest in December 2017, while he has also previously had managerial spells at Rangers and QPR's local rivals Brentford.

The 56-year-old guided the Bees to League One promotion in 2014, before a play-off semi-final defeat to Middlesbrough the following season denied them back-to-back promotions.

The report says that Warburton has held a series of meetings with the QPR hierarchy in recent weeks, and has agreed to become manager with Eustace as his assistant.

The Verdict

I think this is a sound appointment by the R's.

Warburton has a good track record and is proven in developing players on a slim budget, which is what he will need to contend with at Loftus Road.

He is a much better pick than some of the other options on the table and I back him to achieve long-term success at the club.
