Queens Park Rangers have taken Derby County midfielder Henry Wise on trial, according to West London Sport

Son of Chelsea cult hero Dennis, Wise is a third-year scholar at County and played a part in a recent reserves game for the R's, but was substituted early on after a nasty clash of heads took him out of the action.

Wise was initially on the books at Loftus Road before being offered a move to Arsenal four years ago, but he decided against it and opted for a move to Pride Park instead.

His dad famously held him whilst lifting the FA Cup for Chelsea at Wembley after beating Aston Villa in the final in 2000.

QPR have been in a rich vein of form in recent weeks, climbing from relegation fodder into potential play-off contenders.

A run of five wins in their last seven has left them in 10th place after 17 matches and just two points behind Derby, who currently occupy the final playoff place.

The Verdict

If he turns out to be anything like his Dad then he will be one hell of a signing.

The chances of that are admittedly slim, but it's ultimately harmless taking him on trial.

In QPR's precarious financial position they need to be putting more emphasis on bringing through youth so it seems like a sensible move.
