QPR put a dent in Fulham's automatic promotion challenge at the weekend in an intriguing West London derby at Craven Cottage.

For most of the first half, it looked as though the home side were going to rack up yet another victory to continue their fine form in 2018 as they raced into a 2-0 lead and looked good value for it too.

Indeed, they were in complete control but QPR got themselves a foothold with a goal just before half-time and they duly built on that to take a point from a match most would have written them off in after conceding their second.

Fulham appeared to do more, but QPR were very effective when they had the ball and deserved a point, with Aleksandar Mitrovic and Matt Smith's duel summing that fact up.

Indeed, though the stats suggest Mitrovic did more in the game, you'd argue Smith was more effective in this one with him grabbing an assist and proving a fair handful against the Lilywhites' defence.

Smith didn't get to see much of the ball at all during his close to 70 minutes on the pitch but when he did it largely made it count and Ian Holloway - eventually - seemed to get his tactics right.

It was a case of quality rather than quantity for the R's, then, as they built on one strong away performance at Villa with another on Saturday lunchtime.
