Sheffield Wednesday ended a barren run of form to pick up their first league win under new boss Jos Luhukay on Tuesday evening, with an unexpected victory over promotion-chasing Derby County.

A Lucas Joao double either side of half time ensured the Owls picked up their second win against the Rams in nineteen games, moving the South Yorkshire side a breathable nine points clear of the bottom three.

Pressure was beginning to mount on Dutchman Luhukay despite his recent appointment to the managerial role, but three points in an impressive display will send the club into their FA Cup clash with former boss Carlos Carvalhal’s Swansea City full of confidence.

Joao was the most impressive man on the field having bagged twice under the lights at Hillsborough, but others who had been missing in recent weeks returned to form against Gary Rowett’s side.

Defender Jack Hunt impressed at the back, taking to Twitter to declare his delight at the much needed three points.

Fans were quick to have their say on the player’s performance…
