Recently-relegated Middlesbrough warmed up for the start of their bid to make an instant return to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over German outfit Augsburg on Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Stadium.

In Boro's final pre season encounter, and the only one to be staged in front of their home fans, the German side took the lead with little over a minute on the clock, before summer recruit Martin Braithwaite equalised on 37 minutes.

Midfield man Adam Forshaw grabbed the win for Garry Monk's new side with a last minute tap in, as they now turn their attentions to the big Football League kick off, where they travel to free-spending Wolves in their opening match of the season.

Much of the reaction on Twitter centred around new arrival Braithwaite, who impressed the fans on his debut and topped it off with a goal, which further pleased the home fans.

The other main talking point was over the future of Gaston Ramirez - with some home fans booing the playmaker following his transfer request in January, which other fans did not take too kindly to.
