The feeling of excitement around Leeds United is palpable as reports of a takeover gathered pace.

According to the Daily Star, the Yorkshire side were on the 'brink' of agreeing a deal for QSI to complete a takeover of the club.

That reported deal was said to include £10million up front with a takeover valued at £120million in place if Leeds were to be promoted at the end of the season.

It also claimed that Andrea Radrizzani had set an asking price of £80million if QSI wanted to buy the club outright now.

But while those reports were premature, it seems that things could be moving forward.

MOT Leeds News have reported that a source close to QSI has suggested that a breakthrough is on the cards.

With Marcelo Bielsa's side setting the pace in the Championship, big plans are said to be on the horizon if the Yorkshire side can get themselves over the line.

The verdict

While the news of a breakthrough is not imminent, there's certainly no smoke without fire.

If Leeds United can secure promotion they have the infrastructure to kick on in the Premier League, and that is why QSI are so persistent in trying to strike a deal.

With the Whites very much on an upward trajectory you can't blame Andrea Radrizzani for holding out for his desired asking price, as after all, if they do go up the value of the club is likely to rocket.
