Queens Park Rangers striker Jordan Hugill revealed that he isn't thinking about next season - and hasn't been in touch with West Ham United boss David Moyes despite his reappointment in the hot seat at the London Stadium in December.

The 27-year-old striker is currently on a season-long loan deal from the Hammers and has been in impressive form for the U's this term, scoring 13 goals in 25 starts for the Loftus Road outfit.

Hugill was signed by Moyes during his first stint as West Ham boss back in January 2018, but the Middlesbrough-born frontman made just three substitute appearances, accumulating to just 22 minutes worth of Premier League football.

Speaking after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Birmingham City, Hugill was asked whether he'd spoken to Moyes since his return to east London. He told the Brent & Kilburn Times: "I don't feel the need to to be honest, I think they probably know that I'm out doing my work here.

"I'm happy with what I'm doing here and I'm totally focused on what's going on.

"Whatever happens at the end of the season or next season will happen and it's out of my hands so I'm just doing my job which is ultimately playing well and scoring goals which I've been doing."

Despite the talks of going back to West Ham next season, Hugill remains focused on doing a job for QPR for the remainder of the campaign.

"I've not thought about anything to be honest," he said. "I'm kind of just taking everything a day at a time and I can't focus too much on the future because I've still got a job to do here.

"The ultimate aim for me is to get QPR as far as I can so I'm not focused on anything else other than QPR at the moment."

The Verdict

It makes sense for the West Ham links to reappear, but you'd be very surprised to see Hugill play competitively again for the Hammers.

Hugill doesn't exactly boast a prolific goal record in the Championship and therefore is unlikely to be the man that West Ham turn to next season - especially considering how much they spent on Sebastien Haller last summer.

Given how quickly he settled at QPR, you'd imagine there's every chance that Hugill makes the short move across London on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
