QPR will be hoping to improve on a mediocre season under Ian Holloway with their new manager.

The Rs will need to make improvements to the squad if they have ambitions of finishing in the top six regardless of who they bring in as manager. There are promising talents in this team such as Eberechi Eze as well as talented players with Luke Freeman being the best example, but areas of the squad such as the defence need bolstering.

The only issue is the limited budget they are likely to be on due to the Financial Fair Play fines that they are currently paying. However, Massimo Luongo is possibly going to leave in the summer which could give them the necessary funds.

Here are three players they should consider signing in the summer...

Lindsay played 42 games for Barnsley after earning a starting place early in the season. However, he was unable to stop the Tykes from going down on the final day after Bolton's dramatic victory over Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old was excellent considering his young age because he was one of the top performers in a struggling side which was devoid of quality.

QPR can use Barnsley's relegation to their advantage because it's likely that he would favour a move to a Championship side, so he will be available for a bargain price. Centre-backs are needed due to the release of Nedum Onuoha and James Perch and he provides a long-term option.

Luongo's probably departure leaves a gaping hole in midfield which needs to be filled. Josh Scowen and Jordan Cousins can help in that regard, but ideally they need to bring in someone else as well.

Rotherham's Will Vaulks could be that player because he is able to balance defensive duties as well as driving up field and contributing offensively. He would obviously have to adjust to the difference in standards between the divisions, but he seems well prepared to take the next step in his career.

Vaulks scored five goals and assisted five others from a central midfield position in the league this season, so they could replace Luongo with a player from League One which is where they bought the Australian from.

Rhodes hasn't had the desired effect with eight league goals in two seasons during his time at Sheffield Wednesday. This has clearly affected his confidence and he needs a move away to rebuild his career with QPR being an excellent option.

They could get him on the cheap or even loan him with an optional transfer fee at the end because his value has gone down and the Owls will want to get rid of him due to the other striking options they have. QPR have got the necessary creative players to provide him with service, so he can just focus on his strengths, which will allow him to flourish.
