Queens Park Rangers are well positioned to make a late assault on the play-offs if they are to bolster their squad accordingly.

The Hoops have had well documented financial issues that have incurred substantial fiscal penalties.

Thus, being placed under a transfer embargo, despite the rules on the punishment being somewhat of a grey area.

The transfer embargo is part of the punishment being served for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

After being found guilty – and following a long-running legal dispute – the club was ordered to pay a fine hefty fine and was made to pay the EFL’s legal fees – and they can only sign players not be paid more £11,500 per week, or be paid a salary of more than 75% of the player which he’s replacing, say Football London.

With the club in the situation, they currently find themselves in a one-in-one-out policy is basically in effect.

If Steve McClaren is to bring anyone in and strengthen his team, then players must exit Loftus Road between now and the end of the window.

With that said, to be able to finalise potential incomings, QPR will surely be saying bye to these TWO players in the next week or so...

Matt Smith

Matt Smith has managed just two starts in the league this season and was a substitute in the FA Cup third round tie against Leeds.

If that is any indication of his position at Loftus Road, he could well be after a move away.

The 29-year-old has come off the bench a total of 20 times in the league, and with the summer arrival of Tomer Hemed on loan, his position in the side has been lessened.

If regular game time from the start is what the QPR man is after, then a move away could well be on the cards.

Paul Smyth

The youngster has been linked with a loan move to Peterborough and his short-term future at Loftus Road is still up for debate.

One start and one substitute appearance for the Northern Irishman is all he has been able to muster this term and a loan away to get first-team football is a real possibility.

The 21-year-old is still in need of constant competitive football to develop further for Steve McClaren, and he could well be allowed to leave to achieve that before the month is out.
