QPR weighing up loan move for Premier League striker

QPR are weighing up a loan bid for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle, according to Get West London.

The 25-year-old has found first team opportunities hard to come by with the Premier League outfit, so may seek to move on this window in a bid to find regular football.

Hasselbaink may be willing to provide him with this in a temporary measure, with his QPR side struggling to score goals in the absence of Charlie Austin.

Gayle joined the Eagles for £4.5 million in 2013 and has scored 12 Premier League goals.

Although he has never played in the Championship before, many bosses would be tempted to bring him in due to the qualities he has shown during his time at Selhurst Park so far.

It is understood that this potential loan is not part of any deal for Charlie Austin to head the other way.

Although there have been rumours, Alan Pardew has insisted he is not interested in bringing Austin to the club.

Hasselbaink will hope that Gayle can be a partner for Austin rather than a replacement, but either way he would have a real responsibility of scoring goals for the R’s.

QPR have been really struggling of late and have slipped to 16th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

With an instant return to the Premier League now looking highly unlikely, Hasselbaink will focus on getting his side as far up the table as possible.
