Queens Park Rangers have given a trial to former Derby County striker Lewis Walker, according to reports from West London Sport.

Son of former England international Des and brother of Nottingham Forest striker Tyler, 20-year old Lewis has been without a club following his release from Derby County in August, after failing to make an appearance for the Rams in his three-year stint with the club.

The forward arrived at Pride Park from local non-league side Ilkeston Town back in 2016, where the Rams reportedly fought off several Premier League and Championship clubs to secure his signature.

R's boss Steve McClaren, who will know Walker from his second spell as Derby manager, has given the young forward a chance by offering him a trial to impress at Loftus Road.

The West London side have made a rocky start to the season, but look to be back on track after a convincing 1-0 win away at Reading in midweek - they sit 17th in the table.

The Verdict

McClaren obviously saw something good in Walker at Derby if he's now offering him a trial at Loftus Road.

I don't think any R's fan will be expecting Walker to come straight into the first team and get the goals they need, but he could certainly be one for the future, and he will look to emulate the likes of Ebere Eze whose impressive start to the season has alerted the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in recent times.
