Lawrence Shankland will not be leaving Dundee United this month.

Shankand, 24, has been the target of several Championship clubs throughout the season, with QPR showing the most interest.

The Scot has a staggering 28 goals for club and country this season, including 23 in 20 Scottish Championship appearances - he's scored six in his last four.

But despite the rumours linking him with a move south of the border, Shankland has confirmed that he's not going anywhere, and will stay in Scotland and help his side in their promotion push to the SPL, reports the Daily Record.

Mark Warburton's side had been heavily linked with Shankland. They've held an interest in the striker throughout the season, but after Nahki Wells was recalled from Burnley this week, it was expected that QPR would heighten their pursuit of Shankland.

QPR though had shown no further interest in the striker since Wells' departure earlier this week, and have instead been linked with a loan-move for Tottenham Hotspur's Troy Parrott.

It comes after Shankland had met with the club's owner Mark Ogren, and the pair shared a 'very positive meeting' in which they discussed his and the club's future, and agreed that he'll remain at a Dundee United player for the remainder of the season at least.

The verdict

QPR look to have missed a scoop here. They dwelled on Wells for to long and now it looks as though they'll be left short-handed for the remainder of the season.

Shankland is a fine goal-scorer and a player that is bound to join English football sooner or later. QPR might have had a chance of landing the 28-goal man earlier in the window, but they've left it too late and will likely reignite their interest in the summer.
