Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Rotherham United defender Clark Robertson, according to Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (22/07, 11:47).

The 28-year-old was an important player for Rotherham last season and scored three goals in 28 Championship appearances for the Millers, although he could not save them from relegation.

The centre-back is thought to be keen on a return to the Championship and Sky Sports' Transfer centre (22/07, 11:47) claims that QPR and Sheffield Wednesday have both shown an interest in signing him.

Robertson joined Rotherham from Blackpool last summer and has two years remaining on his contract at the New York Stadium.

QPR boss Mark Warburton is looking to strengthen his squad in the transfer market as he prepares for his first season as manager at Loftus Road and has already made several signings this summer.

Meanwhile Sheffield Wednesday are looking for a new manager, following Steve Bruce's decision to leave Hillsborough to take charge of Newcastle United.

The Verdict

Robertson is a good defender and could be a decent signing for either QPR or Sheffield Wednesday. He was an important player for Rotherham last season and has got plenty of experience in the EFL.

He would probably have more chance of starting games regularly at QPR this coming season than he would at Sheffield Wednesday, due to the fact that he's only had one season in the Championship, but he'd still be a decent signing nevertheless.

I'm sure Rotherham boss Paul Warne will be keen to keep hold of him though, as the Millers target an immediate return to the second tier.

He's got two years remaining on his contract, so Rotherham would be in a reasonably strong position when it comes to negotiating with rival clubs.
