Queens Park Rangers are set to target Bristol Rovers centre-back Alfie Kilgour this summer, according to Bristol Live.

The 21-year-old has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Gas this season and has made 33 starts so far this season.

Although centre-back is his preferred position, Kilgour can also play right-back and has done so on four occasions in League One this season.

QPR are thought to be keeping tabs on the player, but unfortunately for Mark Warburton they have company.

Championship rivals Millwall are also interested, while Premier League sides Southampton and Bournemouth have sent scouts to the Memorial Stadium to watch him.

With the R's unlikely to have much money to spend they will not want to get into a bidding war for Kilgour, but West London could be a good place for him to develop his skills.

QPR have struggled defensively this season and would likely offer more first-team football than his Premier League suitors.

The verdict

With Warburton's side having the third worst defensive record in the division so far this season, reinforcements this summer are a must.

Yoann Barbet has proved a good addition in the left-sided centre-back role, but some competition for Grant Hall on the right will be a priority.

Kilgour has plenty of options in front of him though and given the financial issues at QPR, it may be difficult for them to pull off this deal.
