QPR are lining up a £1 million bid for Paul Huntington of Preston North End - according to the Sun.

The R's have a new manager in place in Steve McClaren and he will be looking for ways to improve the side from last season.

2017/18 saw QPR struggle for consistency but if they sort that they have an exciting young squad with good potential.

Huntington would provide some much-needed experience, meanwhile, with his performances at centre-half last season taking the Lilywhites very close to the play-off places in the Championship.

Certainly, he's the sort of player you'd want to build a defence around and the London club do need to make changes to their back-line after seeing a few members of it leaving the club recently.

£1 million is a significant fee, though, so the R's will be hoping that he can hit the ground running if he signs.

The Verdict

The R's have got potential next season but they do need to work on their squad, that is for sure.

There are some good young players knocking around but they need some experience to help guide them and Huntington would be a worthwhile signing.

Let's see if they can get him.
