Queens Park Rangers striker Jordan Hugill has spoken about life at Loftus Road this season, as the West Ham loanee continues his goal-scoring form in the Championship.

Jordan Hugill scored his seventh goal of the season in his side’s 2-2 draw with Reading this week, surpassing his tally for last season where he spent the season on-loan at Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the official club website on his and QPR’s season, Hugill said:

“The changing room is fantastic and all of the boys are pushing each other to do well.

“It’s brilliant for me and to have scored the same amount of goals that I got in the whole of last season already is great. It’s onwards and upwards from here for me.”

QPR took the lead twice on Tuesday night, first through Nahki Wells and then Hugill.

Reading equalised on both occasions though as they extended their unbeaten start under Mark Bowen.

Mark Warburton’s side though remained fifth in the Championship with the point - three points off leaders West Brom.

“We were a bit disappointed on Tuesday; we could’ve been better and we dropped a bit deeper in the last 20 minutes or so, which is when we conceded the goal” explained Hugill.

“The good thing is that we aren’t losing games. We’re still getting points and are moving along while continuing our unbeaten record. Whilst we’re still learning, we’re getting points too and that is a pleasing thing.”

QPR have the weekend off and host Brentford on Monday night in the first West London derby of the season.

It’ll be another tough game for Warburton against one of his former suitors, and Brentford go into the game on the back of two good wins against Millwall and Swansea.

The verdict

Hugill is having some of his career best form at QPR, after some difficult seasons with injuries.

He along with Wells have formed a prolific partnership this season and already have 14 league goals between them.

QPR have a real shot at promotion this season, and Hugill will be a crucial player to Warburton over the course of the campaign.
