Queens Park Rangers are keen on signing Brighton and Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed on a season-long loan.

According to The Argus, the 31-year-old centre forward is a top target for Steve McClaren’s side, having picked up just one win from their opening three fixtures of the 2018/19 Championship season.

Hemed, who started his career in the Israeli Premier League, has made 97 appearances in all competitions for the Seagulls since joining the club in 2015, scoring a total of 35 goals, with just two coming in England’s top flight.

The Israeli international, who has scored 16 goals at full international level, has foud himself down the pecking order at the Amex Stadium this season, behind the likes of Jurgen Locadia, Florin Andone and Glenn Murray.

Steve McClaren, along with all other Championship managers, have until the end of this month to secure loan signings, which can also include permanent agreements in the contracts.

The QPR boss will be looking to bring in a new goal scoring threat before the closing of the loan window, to bolster the Hoops’ attacking arsenal.

The Verdict

Tomer Hemed certainly knows how to find the net at Championship level, having scored 30 goals over two seasons in the second tier of English football for Brighton and Hove Albion.

Queens Park Rangers are in dire need of a new front man, and the Israeli could just be the answer.

Steve McClaren has started the new Championship season off with one good result out of his three games, but will be needing more goals if his side are to improve on last season’s 16th place finish.
