QPR star set to quit Loftus Road in move that is likely to disappoint supporters

Queens Park Rangers defender Jack Robinson looks set to quit the club in the absence of contract discussions.

The former Liverpool defender has impressed at full -ack this campaign for Ian Holloway’s side and it was thought ‘internal discussions’ were taking place around a new deal. However, reports from Get West London have suggested he’s looking at progressing his career elsewhere.

“There’s still nothing,” he said when asked about a new deal at Loftus Road. “I haven’t had any contact yet, there’s been no formal offer of a contract to me so I can’t say much else on that.”

Robinson has played 34 times for the Hoops this season, scoring twice, but it now appears his time with the club is drawing to an end.

“I think it’s getting to that point where I’ve got to start thinking that my time is up here. I’ll leave it up to the agents and I’ll carry on doing what I’ve done here all season and play for the fans and the manager. Hopefully I can get a few more games in before the end of the season, but if not, then I’ve enjoyed my time here and we’ll see what happens in the summer.”

Robinson, who joined QPR in 2014, became the youngest player to feature for Liverpool when he appeared against Hull in 2010 aged 16 years and 250 days, a record broken by Jerome Sinclair in 2012.

The Verdict

That doesn’t sound promising at all, does it QPR fans? What is surprising is he says that talks haven’t started at all, which perhaps points to QPR looking to cut the playing budget rather than offload unwanted players, after all Robinson has had a good season.

The era of big spending at Loftus Road has certainly ended and Robinson could well be a victim of a new, frugal approach to recruitment.
