Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman has completed his move to newly-promoted Sheffield United, the Rs have confirmed.

The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Blades, which makes him Chris Wilder's first signing of the summer as he prepares his squad for the top-flight.

Freeman was a key figure for the West London since his arrival from Bristol City in January 2017, contributing to 17 goals in his 48 appearances as QPR dodged relegation last term.

The midfielder signed a fresh contract in November 2018, but he is now set to make his bow in the Premier League after joining Sheffield United in an undisclosed club-record fee for the Yorkshire club.

Wilder was full of praise for his first Premier League signing, and he believes Freeman will compliment his squad who achieved promotion last term.

"He's one of the best players in the Championship and he can play in a number of positions," Wilder told the Blades' club website.

"Luke is ideal to complement what we already have at the club, I think he will be a good fit for us."

The Verdict

QPR fans will be devastated to see Freeman leave the club, as he was a player his side depended on heavily last season in their relegation battle.

However, Freeman fully deserves his move to the top-flight and it has come at a good time in his career at the age of 27.

Freeman can add a new dimension to Wilder's side with his exciting style of play and creative edge. I also think Wilder has signed the player with an intention to start him.

QPR now have a big void to fill following Freeman's departure, as he has been a key source of goals and assists during his time at the club. They will also need to find a way of replacing his set-piece threat, as the Rs achieved much success through this strategy last season.
