Queens Park Rangers have had an extremely up-and-down Sky Bet Championship season so far, and it's tough to see them making the play-offs come the end of the season.

Good results have been followed up by poor ones and, unfortunately for the Hoops, things have just been far too inconsistent going forward.

And now, they are looking for a new manager following the sacking of Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink on Saturday evening.

After a tricky few weeks, and with a few testing weeks to come, we'd like to see some players on the fringes of the first team given a chance to impress on the big stage.

With things being so topsy-turvy on the pitch, freshening up the first team might not be such a bad thing in the slightest.

So with that in mind, FootballLeagueWorld writer Hayden Atkins identifies TWO players the new manager should promote to the first team as soon as possible...

Olamide Shodipo

19-year-old striker Olamide Shodipo has been thrown into the first team on a number of occasions this season, but is yet to really have a starting run in the side.

But the fearlessness and confidence shown by the Irish Under-21 international has been absolutely fantastic and, if there's one thing the Hoops have missed at times, it's a bit of pace going forward.

He's a man with an extremely bright future indeed, but he just needs a real chance to impress.

Karl Henry

With Massimo Luongo and Jordan Cousins very much the preferred choice in the middle-of-the-park at the moment, few have given Karl Henry much hope of becoming a regular starter once again.

But he's a man with vast amounts of Football League experience and a player who, at times, would add a little more beef to the QPR midfield.

The former Wolves man might not be everyone's cup of tea but when the going gets tough, it's easy to see why his ability to scrap might be a worthwhile choice going forward.

He may have been sent off in their draw at Nottingham Forest yesterday, but the experienced midfielder could have an important part to play when the new manager comes in.
