According to Team Talk, QPR are set to axe Mark Warburton and make an approach for current Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth.

The R's are now seven games without a victory after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Derby, and it's a run that could potentially spell trouble for manager Warburton.

QPR did actually have a brilliant start to the campaign and it saw them sit in the play-off places at the start of October. However, this recent run of results has really damaged their season ambitions.

One part of their play that they need to improve on is their defending. Warburton's side have yet to keep a clean sheet so far this season which is remarkable considering it's now December.

Ainsworth used to play for QPR and made over 100 appearances for the club so it could be worrying times for the Wycombe fans. The Chairboys sit top of League One and Ainsworth has done a terrific job for the side, so it would be interesting to see if he'd actually want to leave.

The Verdict

QPR have had a tail of two seasons but only four months in. They started brilliantly and looked like they could compete near the top end of the league as they were scoring bucketfuls of goals and not letting any side phase them.

It is now becoming a tough season, and it is so hard to get out of a rut, especially when the defence is clearly not up to scratch in this division.

They have to be careful, because any more losses could result in the R's being dragged into a relegation scrap.
