Queens Park Rangers are set to beat Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker. according to the Standard.

The 22-year-old is highly sought after and is the subject of interest from an array of top-flight clubs, including Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers.

QPR were all but set to sign Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, however a deal has not materialised as of yet as a result of Ferdinand's significant wage demands.
