QPR are set to hold talks with Tim Sherwood over the managerial vacancy at Loftus Road as they look to find Steve McClaren's successor according to Sky Sports News.

Sherwood had previously worked with QPR's Director of Football, Les Ferdinand both as a player and as a manager.

It has previously been reported by West London Sport, that Sherwood is one of the frontrunners to succeed Steve McClaren, with the likes of Michael Appleton and Nigel Warburton also being linked with the vacancy.

But the Hoops are seemingly making their move for the former Spurs and Villa boss, as he seems to be their leading candidate at this moment in time.

Gary Rowett was thought to be one of the leading candidates to succeed McClaren, but West London Sport revealed that the former Stoke and Derby boss had ruled himself out of contention.

QPR supporters will be keen to see a new manager in place at the earliest of opportunities, so that they can ease their relegation fears.

They are currently sat 18th in the league table and are in desperate need of a win to edge them closer to Championship survival this season.

The Verdict:

It's good to see them trying to get a deal over the line.

QPR need to appoint McClaren's successor as soon as possible, so that they can make a positive impact on their season, which seems to be in free fall at the moment.

I think Sherwood could prove to be a success at Loftus Road in the long-term for QPR.
