Football journalist Alan Nixon has taken to Twitter to state that Queens Park Rangers are running the rule over former Crystal Palace winger Bruno Aveiro in training.

The 19-year-old is currently a free agent after departing Palace as a free agent this summer and is said to be looking to impress Mark Warburton and his staff at present.

Aveiro was a key player for the Premier League club at under-18 and under-23 level, yet he was allowed to move on in search of pastures new at the back end of June.

The R's have already been busy this summer, with the likes of Andre Dozzell, Stefan Johansen, Charlie Austin, Jordan Archer, Jordy de Wijs, Sam Field, Sam McCallum and Jimmy Dunne all joining from Ipswich Town, Fulham, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Hull City, Norwich City and Burnley respectively.

QPR are set to kick off their Sky Bet Championship season on Saturday 7th August at home to Millwall at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

The Verdict

I think this could be a clever addition for the R's to make as they would be bringing in a player that could be developed and then potentially sold on for profit further down the line.

Clearly Aveiro is a talented player who needs a fresh start and when you take QPR's reputation for developing young talents into account, this could be the right move for him.

It's also a low risk option to pursue given that he's a free agent and I think Warburton has shown in the past that he isn't scared to make signings that could be earmarked as wildcard additions.

I have been impressed with the signings that they have made so far and I certainly think this young winger could add an extra edge for the West London side in attack if he completes a move to the club.
