Premier League side Crystal Palace have reportedly had a bid of £3 million turned down for Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, according to the CroydonAdvertiser.
Alan Pardew’s side have been heavily linked with a move for the shot stopper, who had played second fiddle behind Rob Green in the Rangers goal, as it is understood that their second-choice goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey, is one the brink of a move to West Bromwich Albion.
Sources close to the club believe that Hennessey is due to fly out to Germany with Palace this week as they continue their pre-season preparations but that would not stop a move should one come about.
It is suggested that there is a buy-out clause in McCarthy’s contract that states if a bid of £3.5 million comes in for him, the Hoops would be powerless to stop him talking to another club, so the Eagles may be tempted to come back in with another offer for the Englishman.
