QPR centre-back Toni Leistner has been declared fit to play in this weekend's game with Leeds United at The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Saturday.

The German limped out of the R's emphatic 6-1 win against Cardiff City on New Year's Day but, according to West London Sport, returned to full training this week and is now ready to face Marcelo Bielsa's men.

So far this season, Leistner has made 22 appearances in the second tier. Since arriving under Steve McClaren's stewardship last summer he has quickly become a fan favourite for his no nonsense displays at the back.

QUIZ: Can you name these 15 ex-QPR defenders?

Warburton's side were comfortably beaten in the West London derby with Brentford last weekend, his side conceding three times before half-time, eventually losing 3-1.

So having Leistner back and in contention will come as a welcome boost to the fans, the manager and the players as well.

Summer-signing, and fellow defender, Yoann Barbet remains sidelined, marking a continuation in his frustration time with the club since making the move from Brentford in the summer.

As things stad, the R's sit in 15th place and with 35 points, 17 behind second-placed Leeds United who will be looking to get back to winning ways following their defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

The verdict

This is undoubtedly a big boost for the R's and it could not have come at a better time.

QPR will be determined to bounce back following their defeat to Brentford and putting in a top display against promotion favourites Leeds would be the perfect way to do that.

Leistner's physicality could prove crucial in keeping the Whites attack subdued.
