Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that winger Mide Shodipo has agreed a new deal that will keep him at Loftus Road for another three years.

The 22-year-old has struggled with injury issues over the years but he is highly-rated by the Londoners and has looked a talent when given a chance but those fitness problems have prevented him having a serious run in the team.

Nevertheless, he has committed his long-term future to the R's, with the club's official site confirming that a new deal has been agreed.

And, manager Mark Warburton outlined exactly why he thinks this is a great news for the Championship side.

"He’s a player who has a real hunger and desire when he plays. He’s keen to learn and has a great attitude, so he has all the required attributes to do well as a young professional.

"Now his mindset has to be to push on every single day and he showed me during pre-season that he possesses that determination to keep improving."

Shodipo is edging closer to making his return to fill fitness and will hope to force his way into the first XI in the coming weeks and months.

The Verdict

This is great news for the player and it shows the faith the club have in Shodipo that they have moved to secure his long-term future even though he remains relatively unproven.

That should give him a lot of confidence and it's now about getting back to full fitness and delivering on a consistent basis.

He is an exciting player to watch and has the potential to be a real key player in this attack-minded approach implemented by the new boss, so it will be interesting to see how his game develops during the duration of this deal.
