Queens Park Rangers are looking to recruit players in a number of positions this summer after a disappointing 2016/17 campaign.

The West London outfit failed to impress under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and he was sacked before Christmas.

While things improved slightly under Ian Holloway, QPR were also underwhelming under his management and finished in a low mid-table position.

A number of new signings are required if QPR hope to push for the play-offs next season.

One of the positions which has been identified as a priority is full-back.

The Hoops are looking more specifically at a right-back and have been linked with a number of players including Cyrus Christie and Andy Yiadom.

It is clear that Holloway wants a right-back with Championship experience.

Derby's Christie and Barnsley's Yiadom have proved their worth in this division already.

However, Ian Holloway should instead target another Championship right-back: Matt Doherty.

Wolves are busy in the summer transfer window and new boss Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to offload a number of players and replace them with others.

Among those that are likely to be let go is Matt Doherty, according to a report.

The Irishman, who was recently called up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad, has been operating at left-back for Wolves and shown his versatility in that position.

However, he prefers a right-back role and would thrive given the chance.

The 25-year-old has well over 100 appearances under his belt at Championship level, making him the perfect capture for Ian Holloway's side and he is available for transfer.
