QPR have announced their squad for their pre-season trip to Austria, and there's a notable absentee from Mark Warburton's team.

Massimo Luongo has been left out of the squad, which will only add to speculation that the 26-year-old is set to leave the club in the near future.

Luongo has been a key member of the QPR squad for a number of years now, but it seems as though his spell at Loftus Road is coming to an end.

It was previously reported by West London Sport, that the Hoops are looking to move him on at the earliest of opportunities, with his current deal with the club set to expire at the end of next year's league campaign.

So they're evidently keen to cash in on the midfielder, who will be keen to have his future resolved as soon as possible.

London Football News had recently revealed that the Australian was attracting interest from Leeds United, who are keen to strengthen their squad to challenge for promotion to the Premier League once again.

In an interview ahead of their pre-season trip (quotes sourced from QPR's official website), Mark Warburton admitted that Luongo's future lies elsewhere.

"Massimo’s future could now lie away from QPR and therefore it is important that we prepare for that potential eventuality."

The Verdict:

It's surely only a matter of time before he leaves the club.

Luongo impressed me last season, but he would have been involved in QPR's pre-season plans if he had a future at the club, and I think he's on his way already.

He'd be a good signing for a number of Championship clubs ahead of the new season, and he'll leave a sizeable void in the centre of the QPR midfield.
