Queens Park Rangers are still considering alternative options to Tim Sherwood and Michael Appleton, as the club's search for a new manager continues, according to a report by Love Sport.

The Championship club have been searching for a new boss since Steve McClaren was sacked last week, following a poor run of just one win from 15 league matches.

The Telegraph reported earlier this week that former Spurs and Aston Villa boss Sherwood is the favourite to succeed McClaren, with experienced coach Appleton also thought to be high on the R's list of candidates.

However, this latest report suggests that the club are still considering alternative options, with an internal appointment also a possibility.

McClaren's former assistant John Eustace took caretaker charge of the club for the 4-0 defeat to Norwich at the weekend and is expected to remain in charge for the must-win game against Millwall on Wednesday night.

QPR are currently 18th in the Championship table, five points above the relegation zone with six matches still to play.

The Verdict

This is interesting news. Sherwood had emerged as a clear favourite for the job at Loftus Road, with Appleton also thought to be a serious contender for the role.

However, this latest report suggests that the club are still considering alternative options and they are likely looking for someone who can achieve success on a limited budget.
