Quoted by Goal, QPR man Todd Kane has revealed how he could have moved to Derby County under Frank Lampard before making the switch to W12 in the summer of last year.

The versatile Kane eventually joined the Hoops in the summer of 2019 after numerous loan spells at a variety of clubs from his parent side Chelsea.

And, with that said, he has revealed the Blues connection could well have seen him work under Frank Lampard, who was Rams boss for the duration of 2018/19, before he moved to Chelsea last summer.

Kane revealed:

"I had Sheffield United and Derby County on the table last January.

“I was supposed to be moving to Sheffield United but the deal didn’t get done for whatever reason.

“Then, in the summer, Lampard wanted me at Derby before he moved to Chelsea. It would have been an easy decision to go and work with Lampard at Derby. I felt like it would have been a great move for my career, then that was out of the window."

The Verdict

In the end, Kane's move to Derby never came off.

Once Frank Lampard moved, as expected, to Chelsea after the job became available under Maurizio Sarri, it was always going to be a case that lined-up moves would be on the ice as a new manager at the Rams would have his own targets.

That is what happened with Kane, but he got a move to QPR and it has worked out nicely for him this season under Mark Warburton.

With that said, then, he surely won't have too many regrets and will now want to break into the top flight with the Hoops as soon as they can.
