Nahki Wells got back on the score-sheet against Middlesbrough at the weekend, but it wasn't his best performance in a QPR shirt.

In his second-successive loan-spell at QPR, Nahki Wells is enjoying his best start to a season in a long time.

The Bermuda forward scored his eighth Championship goal of the season in QPR’s 2-2 draw with Boro on Saturday, taking his opportunity well to level his side in the first-half.

Wells though had a fairly underwhelming performance, which will be remembered by fans for his back-pass to Britt Assombalonga in the second-half.

As above, Wells didn’t have a great game on Saturday. He started up-front alongside Ilias Chair, which was a bold selection call from Mark Warburton.

He looked like he missed the physicality of Jordan Hugill up-front, and found himself dropping back to receive the ball more than he usually does.

What let him down on the day though was his back-pass into the path of an on-rushing Assombalonga, who went on to score his second of the game and seal a good point for Jonathan Woodgate’s team.

It was a simple error from Wells which cost his team the game on Saturday, and there’s no doubt that he’ll be reeling at himself.

QPR now go into the international break without a win in four Championship games, and have fallen to 10th in the table - Brentford leapfrogged them with a 3-0 win at Wigan over the weekend.

Wells is a quality striker and everyone at the club knows his pedigree. He really needed a goal at the weekend having slowed down slightly and he got that, only to let himself down in the second-half.

It’s a team performance though and Warburton didn’t single out Wells’ mistake after the game.

QPR set the bar so high with their earlier performances this season, but it’s easy to forget that this is a team that finished 19th last season, and are 10th this time round.

The job that Warburton has done so far is still a very credible one, and fans have a lot to look forward to with this young, exciting squad that the former Bees boss is building.
