French Ligue 1 side EA Guingamp are interested in signing Yeni Ngbakoto from Queens Park Rangers, according to reports in France.

French media outlet Ouest France, as reported via Get Football News France, are claiming that the president of EA Guingamp has confirmed the club's interest in Yeni Ngbakoto.

Ngbakoto has been at QPR for a season and a half after joining in August 2016 from FC Metz in the French league systems.

But the diminutive winger, who can operate on either flank and can also play as a striker, has struggled with playing time this year.

He has only managed five Championship matches with only two of those being starts.

Ngbakoto has a further two cup appearances this season with one goal against Northampton Town back in August.

The twice capped Democratic Republic of the Congo international could now be set to return to France - the country of his birth - and top flight club Guingamp are interested.

EA Guingamp are enjoying a very successful season and currently sit eighth in the league table.

With just one point separating them from sixth placed OGC Nice, they are looking for some January reinforcements to push ahead for a European spot.

The Verdict

QPR should allow Ngbakoto to leave because Ian Holloway is quite clearly planning for life without him.

His playing style is better suited to the French leagues and he could be successful at Guingamp.

QPR could probably command a reasonable fee for the Congolese midfielder too.
